There are no smartphones, wireless headphones, tablets, or glowing screens competing for attention. People gathering together had fewer digital distractions surrounding them.Conversations, laughter, music, games, and simple shared experiences were often the center of social occasions. A group could spend hours together without checking notifications or thinking about what to post online.Photography itself was also a different experience. Taking a picture required more planning because film had a limited number of exposures.People could not instantly review every photograph or take dozens of nearly identical images. As a result, a single photograph could become particularly meaningful. Families and friends often kept albums filled with carefully selected memories from holidays, celebrations, gatherings, and ordinary days.
